Graduate Assistant - University Scheduling and Conference Services

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Room Reservation Management: Coordinating event space bookings for faculty, student organizations, university offices and external clients.
• System Maintenance: Ensuring scheduling databases remain accurate and up to date.
• EMS Contact Updates: Coordinate the maintenance of university and client contacts in Event Management Software platform. 
• University Catering Communication: Connect with university catering on all facility resource needs to execute food service catering.  
• Analyze Client Feedback: Coordinate, collect, and analyze University Scheduling and Conference Services client satisfaction survey. 
• Employee Training: Assist in the training and development of student employees.
• Other duties as assigned: Other administrative and leadership responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience working with event management, event planning, conference services, event hospitality, or high-level customer service experience.
  • Eligible for admission to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program.
  • Appointments are contingent upon acceptance into a graduate program by assistantship start date.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong preference given to students enrolling in the MBA, Sports Management, Recreation Parks and Leadership Studies, Public Administration and Community Management, or College Student Affairs programs.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly assess information and make concise decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in writing skillfully, speaking notably, and listening attentively.
  • Experience in developing training programs.
  • Present strong leadership and management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
