
Part-Time Business Development Intern (Hybrid)
Position Summary
The Business Development Intern plays a key role in advancing our mission by supporting a diverse portfolio of activities, including fundraising, sponsorship outreach, education program coordination, and general operations. This role is ideal for a dynamic, organized, and people-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative nonprofit environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.

From participating in Ocean Explorers events and marine science workshops to contributing content for our News Splash Magazine, you’ll get hands-on experience that makes a real difference for ocean health and marine education. You’ll also be part of a vibrant community that hosts mindful, creative events—like open art labs, marine movie nights, and career development meetups, and offering plenty of opportunities to network and grow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sponsorship & Fundraising (35%)
Identify, approach, and steward relationships with corporate sponsors and donors.
Support grant research and proposal development.
Coordinate fundraising campaigns and donor engagement efforts.
Maintain donor and sponsor records in CRM/database systems.
2. Program Coordination (30%)
Assist in planning and executing marine education programs, workshops, and events.
Support community engagement activities like Ocean Explorers and Tidal Wave Writers.
Collaborate with educators, volunteers, and partners to ensure program delivery.
Track program metrics and assist with reporting and evaluations.
3. Outreach & Communications (20%)
Represent the organization at community events, partner meetings, and outreach efforts.
Contribute to the News Splash Magazine and other storytelling initiatives.
Support the development of promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content.
Help maintain and update website and email marketing lists.
4. Administrative & General Support (15%)
Provide administrative support for day-to-day operations.
Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and internal documentation.
Contribute to team meetings, planning sessions, and special projects.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Passion for ocean conservation and environmental education.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
Graphic design experience is a plus.
