About Sound of Earth:
Sound of Earth is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working at the intersection of arts, culture, and climate action to catalyze peace through environmental transformation. Through media platforms like Sound of Earth Radio and Records, plus community events ranging from EcoSundays to Sound of Earth Fest, we amplify voices in the environmental movement and create spaces where music and climate action converge. We also provide consulting for initiatives like LA Climate Week and are building a digital platform to connect changemakers with sustainability resources. Committed to whole-system sustainability and radical diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, we practice what we preach—leaving no trace at gatherings, sourcing locally, and training community leaders. Through music and community, we're building a movement for environmental justice one connection at a time.

Position Overview:
As an AI Database Administrator Intern, you'll play a critical role in organizing and managing the database for SOE's AI model training and testing. You'll lead data schema development, participate in ethics audits, and support the AI team's innovative work in responsible AI development.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of a comprehensive data schema for SOE's AI model
• Participate in monthly ethics audits for the AI model
• Work with AI team to develop database design and features
• Master SOE's internal ethical guidelines
• Build prototypes for interactive text-based chatbots
• Minimize cloud dependence for AI model training
• Collaborate on a virtual conversation about responsible AI in climate change during LA Climate Week 2026
• Contribute to a collaborative ethical case study document

Preferred Skills & Interests:
• Experience managing databases
• Airtable (training provided)
• Strong focus on human-centric values like transparency and privacy
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Familiarity with research tools and documentation methods

Students from disciplines such as computer science, data science, ethics, environmental studies, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Commitment: ~10-20 hours/week | Fully remote | Flexible schedule within your semester
