Paid IT Services Intern (Managed IT Support)
Organization: Women’s Center of Greater Lansing
Compensation: $200–$300 monthly stipend
Time Commitment: Approximately 10–15 hours per month (flexible)
Duration: Semester-based, with possibility of renewal
College Credit: May be eligible for academic credit, depending on institution requirements
Position Overview
The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing seeks a reliable and detail-oriented IT Services Intern to support the organization’s technology infrastructure. This role is ideal for a student pursuing information technology, computer science, or cybersecurity who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in a nonprofit, mission-driven setting.
The intern will assist in maintaining secure, reliable technology systems that support staff operations and confidential client services.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the Center’s network to ensure stability, security, and optimal performance
- Support basic cybersecurity practices, including user access controls, password management, and system updates
- Ensure computers, printers, routers, and other hardware are properly connected, configured, and functioning
- Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues for staff, escalating issues when appropriate
- Assist with system backups, documentation, and IT process improvement
- Support onboarding and offboarding of staff technology access
- Identify and recommend improvements to IT systems, security practices, or workflows
Confidentiality & Data Security
This position may involve limited access to Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and HIPAA-protected health information as part of maintaining and supporting organizational systems.
The intern will be required to:
- Complete confidentiality and HIPAA compliance training
- Follow all organizational policies related to data security and privacy
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion at all times
- Sign a confidentiality agreement prior to beginning the internship

Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Knowledge of computer hardware, networks, and operating systems
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Professional communication skills and respect for confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with network security or HIPAA compliance concepts
- Interest in nonprofit or community-based work
