RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
The key responsibilities for these 3 positions include assisting Sport Management faculty with courses that serve about 275 undergraduate Sport Management majors and 95+ Athletic Coaching minors. This may include but is not limited to:
- Assist faculty with on-campus and online course delivery, including attending class sessions as needed
- Facilitate and moderate in-person and online discussions
- Help maintain course gradebooks and monitor student progress
- Communicate with industry partners and coordinate guest speakers
- Assist in developing instructional materials, learning activities, and other content to support student learning
- Research topics, case studies, and resources for class projects and assignments
- Provide guidance to students with projects, assignments, and course expectations
- Meet with students, with direction of the faculty mentor, to offer academic support
- Develop content to facilitate student learning
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in student interactions
- Assist with marketing and outreach efforts for both the undergraduate and graduate programs
- Contribute to faculty research projects as needed
- Participate in other departmental service activities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A bachelor's degree
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous work experience in Sport Management and/or Athletic Coaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
