Graduate Assistant - Center for Sport and Performance Psychology

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The graduate assistant will facilitate the management of sport psychology services to the campus and regional community, including 

  • scheduling services for clients and outreach activities requested by the community
  • tracking services provided
  • assessing Center needs and supplies
  • managing social media accounts,
  • ensuring there is another person present when one-on-one sessions take place
  • leading other initiatives identified by faculty or students (e.g., Mankato Marathon Psyches on Bikes; writing an Annual Report, scheduling applicant visits and participating in virtual open houses).  

The Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology program through the Center regularly provides around 300 hours of mental skills team workshops and 500 hours of individual sessions to the regional and campus community. This graduate assistant position enables the program and Center to properly coordinate and support these services. The graduate assistant also supports undergraduate success by providing grading support to HP 290 Psychosocial Aspects of Sport and/or HP 470 Psychology of Coaching courses. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Admitted to the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Graduate Program.
  • A bachelor's degree
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date. 
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

  • Respect for fellow graduate students and faculty.
  • Ability to build community with graduate students and the program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
