Graduate Assistant: Handball 2 University Coordinator

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 
The Handball 2 University (H2U) program partners with community youth programs to: 1. Provide a positive university experience for a diverse group of youth and encourage a pursuit of post-high school academics. 2. Provide a platform to increase the health and wellness awareness of youth by playing handball. The Graduate Assistant for H2U will have a range of responsibilities including, but not limited to: direct supervision of minors while on campus for 3-4 hours per week; coordination of handball instructors; reserve facilities, coordination of university partners, liaison with community partners, author grants, coordinate teaching assistants. The GA will meet regularly with H2U leadership. Other duties may also be assigned.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date. 
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Preferred program of study in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Services, Sport Management, or another related field
  • Ability to work some late afternoon, evenings, and possible weekends
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Basic technology skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 
 
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 stipend (20 hours per week) plus tuition stipends (up to 9 credits/semester), dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 
 
RELATED INFORMATION: 
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
