RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 
The role of this GA will be to help recruit underrepresented and first generation high school students to Minnesota State University, Mankato. This will include but is not limited to: 
  • Participating in the recruitment and retention activities for underrepresented students.
  • Participating in academic advising activities.
  • Creating, delegating, executing, and supervising annual events.
  • Creating promotional materials for recruitment
  • Phone calling potential incoming first-year students 
  • Collaborate with various departments within Diversity & Inclusion to promote multiculturalism.
  • Attend department and staff meetings.
  • Attend fellow Diversity & Inclusion departments' annual events.
  • Perform and assist the Director of Diversity Engagement & Initiatives with any additional assigned duties.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits per semester during assistantship and in good academic standing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student development and multiculturalism.
  • Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours within a 20-hour per week schedule (non-remote).
  • Ability to work with the recruitment of underrepresented students.
  • Have good leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date. 
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with academically at-risk students.
  • Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented populations.
  • Demonstrated advising experience.
  • Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in a first-year graduate program in Counseling and Student Personnel Department, Educational Leadership, Experiential Education, or Social and Behavioral Sciences.
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, and dependability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 
 
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 
 
RELATED INFORMATION: 
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
