Career and College Readiness Assistant Coordinator GA - Educational Talent Search

POSITION START DATE: August 28, 2022
This position supports the educational advisors and director in outreach, recruitment, curriculum, event planning and supervision, research of career/college/scholarship information to support students, supports academic needs of students through online program and develops materials for use with students in programming. May assist with small group implementation with junior high college clubs, supervise college visits, and attend and supervise Spring TRIO conference. Mentoring/supervision for out of school activities may require occasional evening or weekend hours.  
  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral and interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
  • Must pass background check, have valid drivers license and pass authorization for state vehicle usage.
  • Demonstration of organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Experience working with middle/high school age students or enrollment in developmental coursework as such.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date. 
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing. 
  • Awareness of needs or experience in working with first generation or low income students.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with graphic program such as CANVA, Publisher, etc...
  • Prior experience with event coordination, supervision, or implementation.
  • Pursuit of graduate discipline that supports the mission of the program and students served.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 stipend) plus tuition stipends (up to 9 credits per semester) dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.
Due to start date and ability to get background check/vehicle usage approval by start date, position is contingent upon passing both and will be withdrawn effective immediately if individual is not able to receive clearance.  

Educational Talent Search is a grant funded program through the US Department of Education and serves students in grades 6-12.  

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
