Graduate Assistant - Department of Communication Studies

POSITION START DATE: July 31, 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) will teach up to two sections of the basic hybrid communication course each semester (20 hours per week). Graduate Assistants may also apply to serve as Graduate Forensic Assistants who may have reduced teaching loads.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • A bachelor's degree 
  • Applicants must be admitted to a communication studies graduate program and have a completed bachelor's degree by August 1st, 2023.


 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 
 
SALARY/STIPEND: $10,000 plus tuition waiver (up to 9 credits/semester), dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 
Graduate assistants should be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

Contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding, the possibility exists for an appointment to continue beyond the initial period of employment.
