RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
The graduate assistant will perform a variety of activities to assist in the promotion of student success and retention in the College of Science, Engineering & Technology. Duties will include general academic advising, supporting students who are experiencing academic difficulty, participating in orientation and admissions events and other activities associated with the operation of the CSET Advising Center.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong attention to detail.
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic technology skills.
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference is given to applicants pursuing graduate degrees within the College of Education or the College of Science, Engineering & Technology.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Previous experience working with college student support services.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 stipend (20 hours per week) plus tuition stipend of up to 9 credits per semester, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funds, this appointment may be continued beyond the initial period of employment.
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
