RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Create marketing and promotional materials for the Library and library activities (examples: social media postings, posters).
2. Create content and help to manage the Library’s social media accounts.
3. Design in-house displays (example: book displays, bulletin board displays, tabling displays).
4. Manage the design and look of the Library newsletter and assist with creating content for the Library newsletter.
5. Help to plan and promote Library outreach activities and programs.
6. Create, update, and organize outreach documentation and reports.
7. Serve on the Outreach Committee.
8. As needed represent Library Services at campus committee meetings (examples: Welcome Week Committee, Family Weekend Committee).
9. Assist with outreach assessment responsibilities.
10. Understand the overall mission and goals of Library Services.
11. Assist other areas of the Library as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree and eligibility for admission into an MSU graduate program.
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong written communication skills with experience in technical, copy, and/or journalistic writing.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Experience with creating social medial content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
- Strong design knowledge and skills, including experience with using Canva and Adobe InDesign.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills.
- Experience in event planning, assessment, marketing, graphic design, and/or curriculum development.
- Majoring in any of the following fields: public relations, communication, marketing, graphic design, mass media, or journalism.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time-management skills.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
