Teaching Assistant - Social Work

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 
• Assist faculty with instruction of one or more undergraduate social work courses each term under the supervision of the Department Chair and/or assigned social work faculty member.
• Provide academic support for course related activities, including but not limited to: prepping assignments, developing, and updating teaching resources, editing student assignments, proctor course session(s) as needed, providing student support in understanding and completing assignments and meeting course expectations.
• Assist assigned faculty in other academic and teaching related activities as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Completion of the first year of the MSW program by August 2022 or hold a BSSW/BSW and have been admitted to the Advanced Standing MSW program.
  • Enrollment in MSW program courses during the 2023-24 academic year.
  • Strong undergraduate or graduate academic record with minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Adhere to confidentiality practices within the program regarding student information.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel/Word), Office 360 Programs, and Qualtrics.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of APA.
  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date. 
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing. 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Able to work in person on campus as requested by assigned faculty supervisor.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. 

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $5,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 
 
RELATED INFORMATION: 
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
