BSSW Program Research Assistant - Social Work

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Recording and preparing meeting minutes
• Reviewing and editing documents
• Coordinating admissions review process
• Data entry and database management
• Assist with developing and collecting assessment and evaluation activities 
• Analyzing data and preparing assessment reports and mailings
• Assist in researching, developing, and updating Program & student policies 
• Conducting literature and other internet searches to support program activities
• Assist with program communication
• Assist with event planning and execution
• Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
• Assist with maintaining program website
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Adhere to confidentiality practices within the program regarding student information.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel/Word), Office 360 Programs, and Qualtrics.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Priority consideration for those admitted to and enrolled in the MSW program.
  • Multicultural background or experience(s) and/or a commitment to fostering diversity in an academic learning and working environment.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods in social sciences.
  • Knowledge of data entry and analysis.
  • Social service experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: $2500/semester @ 10 hours/week.  Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Research Assistants are hired for both fall and spring semesters. Research assistants are required to be enrolled, fulltime graduate students. 

Contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funds, there is the possibility that the appointment may be continued for an additional year if applicant is completing their degree longer than 1 year.

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
