Student Success Coach - Educational Talent Search

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

This position will assist in the delivery of services for participants in the TRIO Educational Talent Search program. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and the supervision of student events and workshops, facilitating group activities, implementing curriculum, documentation, preparing instructional and marketing materials, and other administrative tasks. Activities may require occasional evening or weekend hours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and pass clearance for state vehicle usage.
  • Attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Canva, and ability to learn new software applications.
  • Full day availability at least one day of the work week.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Demonstrated event planning and implementation skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups of students.
  • Prior youth supervision experience (such as leadership roles in camps, residential life, parks and recreation, and education).
  • Awareness or experience in working with low-income/first-generation students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: $5,000 stipend ($2,500 per semester at 10 hours/week) and tuition waiver up to 4.5 credits per semester. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federal funded grant program through the US Department of Education. ETS serves low income, first generation students in grades 6-12 in 15 area target schools, focusing on college and career readiness. Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
