Graduate Advisor for Peer Health Education-Student Health Services/Health Education

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Student Health Services/Health Education is looking for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in developing, organizing, and promoting peer health education activities on campus. The person in this position is responsible for assisting with recruiting, training, and supervising Health PROs, our undergraduate peer health educators, and the coordination of their outreach activities on campus. Outreach topics include: alcohol, healthy sexuality, stress management, healthy sleep habits, nutrition, and more.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning and coordination of educational events, activities and programs.
  • Ability to work with, meet with and motivate a diverse group of undergraduate student volunteers.
  • Flexibility to work at outreach events, including a limited number of evenings and weekends.
  • A demonstrated ability to create event marketing and educational materials using desktop publishing, such as Canva or Publisher.
  • A working knowledge of social media content creation to promote and inform. Must be able to create, design and produce for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Health Education office.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Health Education/Promotion background.
  • Attention to detail, professionalism, dependability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: This is a full-time assistantship (20 hours per week) with $5000 stipend per semester, plus up to 9 credits tuition waiver. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
