Graduate Assistant - Chesley Center on Aging

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Attend Chesley Center meetings, recording and preparing meeting minutes
• Reviewing and editing documents
• Assist with planning of educational events and trainings
• Assist with coordination of Chesley Center 
• Assist with marketing and recruitment activities
• Assist with updating and maintaining program website
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel/Word), Office 360 Programs, and Qualtrics.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Priority consideration for those admitted to and enrolled in the Aging Studies program.
  • Multicultural background or experience(s) and/or a commitment to fostering diversity in an academic learning and working environment.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods in social sciences.
  • Knowledge of data entry and analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to working with older adult populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: 5,000 @ 10 hours / week, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 

This position prioritizes candidates who are enrolled in the Aging Studies program.

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
