RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Coordinate with  staff to design, monitor, participate, and develop new avenues to connect with current and specified student populations.

• Creating, delegating, executing, and supervising annual events as well as workshops  

• Guide and assist staff and student leaders with events, program planning, and management of social justice initiatives, community building, leadership development, and education initiatives

• Collaborate with various departments within Diversity, Equity & Inclusion to promote multiculturalism

• Serve as a resource for current and specified student populations.

• Support recruitment and retention efforts, including high school visits and university events

• Attend department and staff meetings, if applicable.

• Attend fellow Diversity, Equity & Inclusion departments’ annual events  

• Ability to demonstrate knowledge about the history and social issues that impact the communities served.

• Has good leadership, supervisory, and organizational skills  

• Perform and assist the Director with any additional assigned duties

    Will focus on full operations of the Maverick Food Pantry on a daily basis, including stocking shelves, supervising student workers, and other duties and responsibilities as coordinated with the supervisor. Food safety training will be provided, in addition to other training. Must be available during the opening hours of the Maverick Food Pantry. Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds. Persons with ability to drive a university vehicle is preferred. Start date can be negotiated if available earlier than August 19th. Options to work over all breaks (spring, summer, winter) with additional pay.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 annually (20 hrs/week) plus tuition stipends (up to 9 credits/semester), dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
