Graduate Assistant - Intramural Sports

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Assist in organizing, programming, and administering individual, dual, special event, and team activities, including preparation of registration materials, flyers, and schedules for all events; assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, scheduling, and retention of student officials and supervisors, including preparing training manuals and conducting clinics; assist in the promotion of Campus Recreation at resource and Admissions fairs; assist in daily activity preparation and results; assist in handling ejection and unacceptable sportsmanship situations; assist in the purchasing, inventory, and storage of equipment; and assist with participation reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in recreation or a related field.
  • Available for this position through May 9, 2025.
  • Prior experience in sports officiating, intramural sports programming and supervision.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Computer and technology skills.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Certified Official in a State High School League.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: $10,000 (20 hours/week) plus tuition stipends (9 credits per semester), dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
