Graduate Assistant for University Extended Campus at the MSU Edina location

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  • Assist with the set up and coordination of events at the Edina facility.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  • Print event signages and other needed materials.
  • Be present at Normandale Community College and North Hennepin Community College recruitment events (also known as “tabling”).
  • Support activities related to Edina facility operations
  • Return classrooms and conference rooms to be ready to occupy by cleanup and set- up activities between classes. This will involve some light cleaning.
  • Provide front desk support to staff, students and visitors – in-person, online and phone.
  • Create and upload event schedules to the Edina monitor screens.
  • Monitor Extended Campus mailboxes and respond to or re-direct inquiries.
  • As directed, assist with maintaining and updating the University Extended Campus and Online website pages.
  • Assist MSU staff with various projects related to online marketing, student recruitment and retention. (ex. Data entry and market research, student calling…).
  • Assist with the MavCARD Student ID process.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Detail-oriented
  • This position is based in Edina, MN. Student must be able to work at the additional off-site location, located on 7700 France Ave.
  • Eligible for admission to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program. (Appointments are contingent upon acceptance into a graduate degree program.)
  • Enroll for a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to work some late evening and Saturday hours.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including communication skills.
  • Basic technology skills.

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 stipend (20 hours per week) plus tuition stipends (up to 9 credits/semester), dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.  

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Potential for renewal of appointment beyond the initial period of employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. Graduate Assistants with a summer appointment must enroll for at least two graduate credits.
