Graduate Assistantship - Piano Accompanist - Performing Arts

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Serve as a piano accompanist for the Department of Music and Entertainment Industries. Depending on experience, this may include accompanying choral ensembles and accompanying for private instrumental and vocal lessons. Depending on experience, assist with conducting choral and/or instrumental ensembles. Other administrative and departmental duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • Undergraduate degree in Music.
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Admitted to a graduate program in Music at Minnesota State University, Mankato by start date.
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Evidence of experience as an accompanist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 per academic year, plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.

Contingent on a satisfactory performance and available funding, there is a possibility that thisappointment may be continued beyond the initial period of employment.
