URSI Graduate Program Assistant- Urban and Regional Studies Institute

RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Responsibilities will vary but may include:

  • Assisting research projects if needed.
  • Aiding the Program Director in coordinating activities of the Leadership Council.
  • Aiding the Program Director and advisor for the Students of Urban and Regional Studies Institute (SURSI) to facilitate communication and coordinate programming.
  • Coordinating program events such as the Career Fair.
  • Supporting program media development.
  • Assisting research projects if needed.
     

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban studies or related discipline
  • Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
  • Enrolled within 10 days of the start of classes in one of URSI’s degree programs, Master of Arts in Public Administration and Community Management or the Master of Arts in Urban Planning.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Work experience related to community management or planning
  • Familiarity with technology such as D2L, Excel, social media, website development, etc.
  • Community Service
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver. 

RELATED INFORMATION: 

Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
