RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
The communications graduate assistant will support the Educational Talent Search team with preparation of materials, creating, maintaining and updating social media, assist with the development and tracking of various enrollment and service applications for the program. Creating forms, posters, power points and other marketing pieces, generating reports, researching, reporting, maintaining excel tracking documents, and assisting with event coordination and planning. Coordination of mailings and materials and other office tasks. This position will have limited direct student contact but will assist with virtual student programming, outreach and may be involved in student events (ETS serves middle and high school students).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Proficient skills in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint);
- Technical skills in Canva and/or other design software to create marketing materials;
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Background check approval will be required before working directly with students (ETS will coordinate this upon offer)
- Admitted to a Minnesota State University, Mankato graduate program by start date.
- Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) graduate credits per semester during assistantship, and in good academic standing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to take direction and work independently;
- Experience with research and report generation;
- Experience in graphic design and technical writing;
- Experience with data draws/reporting from excel;
- Previous experience in team based learning/work;
- Comfort with virtual presence through phone, zoom and in person contact;
- Experience working with junior/senior high students in understanding age appropriate student development;
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
SALARY/STIPEND: Up to $10,000 plus tuition stipends, dependent upon availability of funds, period of appointment, and assignment. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for a tuition waiver.
RELATED INFORMATION:
ETS is a federally grant funded position.
Minnesota State System policy requires that graduate assistants must reside within the State of Minnesota for the duration of their appointment.
